Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated caregiver to provide safe, respectful, and supportive care to individuals who need assistance with daily tasks. This role focuses on enhancing the comfort, dignity, and independence of the person receiving care through personal support, companionship, and routine help at home.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care:
- Assist with daily hygiene routines such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Support with mobility and transfers (bed to chair, walking assistance, etc.)
- Help with incontinence care and maintain personal dignity
Health Monitoring:
- Monitor and report changes in physical or mental health
- Support with exercises or rehabilitation tasks recommended by healthcare professionals
Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions or preferences
- Assist with feeding when necessary
- Ensure proper hydration throughout the day
Companionship and Emotional Support:
- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversation
- Participate in recreational activities or hobbies to promote mental well-being
- Offer emotional reassurance and create a positive, respectful environment
Household Support:
- Perform light housekeeping duties (laundry, vacuuming, dishwashing, etc.)
- Run errands (grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups) if required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living space
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a caregiver or similar role
- Basic understanding of caregiving best practices and emergency response
- Ability to lift, move, or assist clients with mobility
- Patience, strong interpersonal skills, and a high level of empathy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or equivalent certification
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Experience with memory care (Alzheimer’s/dementia) is a plus
Work Environment:
- May involve long periods of standing, bending, or lifting
- Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts
- Work may take place in private homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes
